To that end we now own an ex-mobile bank, a part of rural Ireland’s cultural history from the 70s and 80s.  And we’re going to use it to bring the Féile Icarus ethos to corners and the middle chunky bits of Ireland along with a few choice spots in Europe. But it needs quite a bit of pimping, here are some pics.

The challenge is clear

Pimp the bus as a vehicle (pun intended) for business, change and creativity while retaining the original integrity of the original bank bus.

And, to that end I’m looking for some help:

someone who can design a really cool, eye-catching wrapper for the van

a garage or design bod who can do the actual wrapping

anyone who has spare body parts for a Mercedes 608 D truck

That’s fair enough. We’re well aware of the psychological impact of a higher price, that indicates greater value to be had to participants. But there are a few things that drive us to hold the position on price:

A. Many of the target group need a low threshold to be able to make the decision to come, and for those at start-up, just a few bods running the business or pre-inception stage – price is a huge threshold. So, if we want to help them move their ideas and ventures along then we have to make this a non-decision for them. At the same time, it can’t be free, as the commitment needed from them is too small and we want to know that the people that come are actually committed enough.

B. Because number of participants is important to the framework – it’s crucial to try to attract as many as possible. The more people, the more knowledge and views we’ll have buzzing around.

C. We do envisage other people being able to offer their stuff at a Féile Icarus event and either charging for it, or doing it for free. That will be up to them. Then we have to build that plan into the overall pricing structure now and allow room for others to offer their thang.

D. We want sponsors to join in the game. When starting any kind of new project or venture, and continuing, there are a whole slew of services, mindsets & tools that are of crucial use to the project-owner and entrepreneur. These include banking, project management tools, IT equipment, web development, venues, knowledge, accountancy, CRM, online payment to name just some of them. For that reason there’s no need to charge exorbitant rates for the event and in the process cut promising ideas and people out. It is better to allow more people to come, and then sponsors & partners may offer their own tools to help people succeed.

We also have a couple of other exciting developments to share during the spring and will reveal those as they hit a couple of milestones.

So far we’re just going with the two events we’ve sorted 99% of the details for in Sweden and Ireland and will add the other locations as they become more concrete. It’s quite difficult to do anything anyhow until the web presence is properly sorted so we’ll just be keeping our eyes on that for the present.

The programme is coming together very nicely now at last and we will be trying to keep ticket prices as low as possible but a bit over last time to ensure a good flow of people. But we will charge some fee because I believe that will contribute to having more participants who are committed to whatever their change or project is.
